Guest for November Edition is Will Baumgartner

Will Baumgartner is the bandleader, lead vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist behind Boulder/Denver-based funk and soul powerhouse The Pamlico Sound, a cornerstone of the Front Range music scene for 15 years. A gifted saxophonist, flutist, harmonica player, vocalist and songwriter. Will shapes the band’s signature blend of deep funk, classic soul, and psychedelic energy.

Born in Nag’s Head, North Carolina, and raised in Binghamton, New York, Will spent summers steeped in Southern soul at The Casino—the Outer Banks’ legendary nightspot across from his family’s cottage—which profoundly influenced his musical vision alongside the psychedelic rock he absorbed up north and in New York City.

For this episode of Talk and Tunes, Will is joined by TPS keyboardist Patrick LaPhilliph to reflect on The Pamlico Sound’s 15-year journey, their creative evolution, and to perform intimate versions of the band’s music—plus a few surprises from other genres.
