Intro to Branding & Design for Small Businesses

Have you been feeling frustrated whenever you need to design something new for your job or business? Do you feel like you spend hours on one piece of content that should’ve taken only 10 minutes? Whether it’s a presentation, web graphic, social post, poster, or something else, this workshop will help you work faster, more confidently, and look good while doing it.

What to expect? You’ll create a customized brand guide cheat sheet during class that’ll help simplify your design decisions. Then we’ll go over basic design principles, and review design programs you can use to make the design process easier and allow you to get back to business faster.

What to bring?

• • Laptop
    Charger, Keyboard & Mouse if you need it
  • Branding materials
    Bring any examples of your branding that you like and want to pull inspiration from. Examples: Logo, printed content (flyers, business cards, letterhead, etc), website, social media posts, or any other content that’s been designed for your business
  • Canva Account (free or paid)
    We will be working in canva during this class. Please create a canva account ahead of time and start playing around if you have time to do so. https://www.canva.com/

In this class we’ll review your brand standards (logo, colors & fonts) and create a quick cheat sheet for you to take back to the office. You’ll also receive a free graphic design basics guide to use during and after the class. At the end of the class, we’ll cover additional free and paid design programs you can use to save time and money when you need to design.

About the instructor:
Amanda Maldonado, aka Coy Ink, is a local artist and graphic designer. She has 7 years of experience as a graphic designer and 3 of them as an art director for Simply Organic. During her time as a graphic designer, the thing she loved most was helping others learn how to design more easily and efficiently.
